Mecca – An aesthetic sculpture that shakes the eyes of millions of visitors to Islam’s most revered house, making it a symbol of “the road to Mecca” through the inscriptions inspired by the heritage of Saudi Arabia’s Umm al-Qura.

The “Gate of Mecca”, also known as Quran Gate, was designed by Saudi artist Dia Aziz Dia in 1979 and was built at a cost of 46 mln SAR on an area of 4,712 square meters at a length of 152 meters and 31 meters in width. The gate is located on the Mecca-Jeddah highway, about five kilometers from the holy capital.

Visual artist Dia Aziz confirmed to Al Arabiya that the sculpture was inspired by the body of the Holy Quran, which rests on a wooden stand, intersecting its sides in the middle of the body.
