St. Louis District Dairy Council’s 6th Annual Merry Dairy Holiday Card Contest prompted more than 1800 local students to showcase not only their love of dairy, but their artistic talents as well.

The holiday-inspired drawings, which included Santa drinking milk, cows ice skating and elves snacking on cheese, poured into the offices of the local nonprofit nutrition education organization earlier this month. Missouri and Illinois students submitted them in the hopes of their masterpiece being selected as the organization’s holiday card.

The contest included three different age groups: Kindergarten through 2nd grade, 3rd through 5th grade, and 6th through 8th grade. A grand prize winner, as well as a runner-up, was selected in each category.

The 2017 Merry Dairy Holiday Card Contest winners are:

Kindergarten-2nd grade Grand Prize: Madalynn Janes, Kindergarten, St. John’s Lutheran School, Ellisville, Missouri (Art Teacher: Carrie Blase)

3rd-5th grade Grand Prize: Jaeven Sheen, 4th Grade, Wildhorse Elementary, Chesterfield, Missouri (Teacher: Mrs. Bryan)

6th-8th grade Grand Prize: Kaitlyn Hobart, 6th Grade, Holy Infant School, Ballwin, Missouri (Teacher: Mrs. Hoene)

The three grand prize-winning drawings are featured on the 2017 St. Louis District Dairy Council holiday cards.

The winners are set to receive a set of holiday cards to send to friends and family this holiday season, along with a premium gift basket.

Runners-up will also receive a dairy gift basket, and teachers will be recognized with a special award to be used for a classroom party.

Runner-Up Winners:

K- 2nd grade Runner-Up: Sophia McLean, Holy Infant School, Ballwin, Missouri (Teacher: Susan Wallace)
