The Canal and River Trust has announced that headline private and business boat licence fees will rise by 2.5% from 1 April 2020.
As previously announced, in March 2018, following the Trust’s national boat licence consultation, a number of changes will be made to licence fees over five years.

HRH The Princess Royal, President of the Royal Yachting Association, will honour 11 Midlands sailors with the RYA’s most prestigious awards in recognition of their exceptional generosity and commitment to the sport at grassroots level later this month.
Sailors spanning the whole region, from Northamptonshire to north Staffordshire, will receive RYA Volunteer Awards at the RYA’s annual awards ceremony in London on Friday 22 November.

The fourth and last race of the S9 onedesign 2019 class has concluded this weekend held at the Trasimeno public club. Teo Di Battista was crown 2019 S9 Class Champion, followed by Casadei Roberto and Enrico Mancini.
Two days of light winds , 5-6 knots, but the vibes on the water and on land as always good camaradieri between the S9 sailors.

It was good to see the intrepid Rory McKinna of the Clyde Cruising Club travel to Portugal earlier this month to take part in the Hansa European Championships in Portimao.
Over 30 sailors took part in the Hansa 303 singlehanded class, managing 9 races over the competition in consistent sun, until the last day when the fog moved in. Overall 125 sailors in 86 boats took to the Atlantic off the Algarve across the different classes.

This was one of four venues across the UK with racing in British Youth Sailing’s recognised dinghy and windsurfer classes. Among those taking part were some of the nation’s most promising young sailors, as well as a host of kids getting their first taste of racing in a fun, inclusive festival of sailing for under 16s regardless of ability, but with a championship element for serious racers.
