All traces of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been wiped from The Royal Foundation website — the couple’s former joint charity with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Prince William and Catherine are now the sole principals listed on the website, while all mentions of Harry’s Invictus Games and Meghan’s Empowering Communities have been removed from the foundation’s list of projects.
“The Royal Foundation is the primary philanthropic and charitable vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,” the website now states.
“Our programs currently revolve around five main themes of work; mental health, early years, wildlife conservation, young people and the armed forces community.”
The Royal Foundation was set up by Prince William and Prince Harry more than a decade ago and was later joined by Kate and Meghan when they married into the royal family.
But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to cut all ties with the charity in May, announcing they would start their own foundation instead.
The change comes after a major shake-up of Harry and Meghan’s @SussexRoyal account on Instagram, which now follows just a select group of 17 accounts.
The accounts, which include the Australian charities RizeUp and St Kilda Mums, were chosen after followers were asked to share their favourite organisations from their local communities.
“We want to thank everyone who made a suggestion or kindly shared a positive story! We have now updated the accounts we follow for this month to reflect many of your suggestions!” the account said.
The international shout-out following Harry and Meghan’s high-profile tour of Southern Africa led to a big boost in followers for St Kilda Mums, a Melbourne-based charity that provides preloved nursery goods to families in need, according to CEO Jessica Macpherson.
“I’d like to say welcome to all our new followers,” she said in a video posted on Tuesday.
“Overnight we had the most amazing news: Sussex Royal, the official Instagram page for Meghan and Harry the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, followed us along with 16 other fantastic charities drawing attention to the work that we do.
“They found out about us because our community, our volunteers and our supporters wrote hundreds of beautiful comments of support on the Sussex Royal Instagram page.”
RizeUp, which assists families affected by domestic and family violence, also thanked its supporters for helping grab the royals’ attention.
“We did it! Thank you incredible people for your overwhelming support of RizeUp. Your votes have made this happen. Your avalanche of support has shone the light on the valuable work we do to walk alongside some of Australia’s most vulnerable people and I couldn’t be more grateful to each and every one of you who took the time to vote,” it posted on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, SussexRoyal switched its focus from community to mental health, posting a teaser for World Mental Health Day featuring Prince Harry and English musician Ed Sheeran.
Earlier this week, both the Sussexes and the Cambridges featured in a “special film” about mental health broadcast across multiple British television channels as part of the National Health Service’s (NHS) new Every Mind Matters campaign.
