Calling all artists—a new festival is coming to town this summer that’s focused on finding and appreciating the beauty around us.
The Crooked Tree Arts Center has announced plans to host a summer painting festival in August called ‘Paint Grand Traverse: a Plein Air Affair’
The festival will invite artists from around the state and country to take part in open air painting of grand traverse area landscapes.
There will also be events for first-time painters and creative kids.
Local Artist Nikki Lennox, from Painting With A Twist, says the surrounding scenery—and the inspiration it provides—should draw in quite a crowd.
“For plein air painting, this is just gorgeous here,” she says. “We’ve got the bays, we’ve got woods and the forests and streams and rivers, and the dunes of course. And we all know we’re one of the ten most popular places to be. So yes, it’s a fabulous place for plein air painting.”
