Consumer voting in the 2020 British Travel Awards has opened and in a revised timeline, due to the exceptional circumstances, voting will continue until 22 November.
In a pared down Awards, there are 51 award categories but the ocean cruise award has been dropped this year.
BTA has also dropped a new award it was planning to introduce this year to recognise companies that have provided the best customer service during Covid-19.
CEO Lorraine Barnes Burton (above) said: "Although many people missed out on holidays this summer there will still be those who travelled after 30 September 2019 (the end of the BTA 2019 consumer voting period) until right up to lockdown who will have an opinion on their travel providers. In addition, with an extended voting period up 22 November, we're hopeful some will have managed a late holiday and can give us their thoughts."
The winners will be announced at a ceremony filmed in a studio and broadcast live online on 14 December, starting at 2pm.
Nominated companies will have received a marketing pack, with tools to help their lobbying campaigns. Included in the pack is a personalised online direct voting 'Vote for Us' pop-up window option, which links voters to the company's category on the voting form.
In addition, consumers are encouraged to vote by entry into a prize draw with the chance to win a Nicko Cruise on the Danube or Rhino, courtesy of river cruise specialist Light Blue Travel. Usually there are numerous prizes but this year these have been channelled into 'The Great Big Online Travel Auction' being held in aid of the NHS.
